27th June - 1st July 2016. Lots of good things in Skipton.

We arrived in Skipton in the rain on Tuesday and it rained for much of our stay there. Its a lovely little town with nice shops and a castle. Its a trippery place (The Gateway to the Dales apparently) with expensive houses, posh shops and a multitude of tea shops. On Thursday night we celebrated pay day and a tax rebate with fish and chips from Bizzie Lizzies in the canal basin. We walked in the castle woods and also found a lovely big park with nice views very near the moorings.

Views from the park.

There were a lot of boats moored in the town, including hire boats. Trip and day boats went back and forth during the day. We needed to stock up and there was a Morrisons very near the canal. Robin got his leg looked at by the local clinic and has been signed off - just keep it covered now until the skin has completely grown across. There was good phone and internet connection but the TV and radio reception was rubbish. We tested our washing machine to see if it would work without the travel pack and it does, as do the hoover and grill, so we are back fully functioning. It seems that the new batteries and more powerful inverter we invested in earlier have paid off so we don't need to replace the additional equipment.
On Friday we decided we must move on and after filling with water etc. we set off in miraculously dry weather. The canal is pretty with lovely views. No locks but lots of swing bridges. We liked the look of Kildwick in Airdale and moored there after about 4 and half miles. As we did so, the weather changed abruptly and it tipped it down again.
