The travels of Narrowboat Harold and his crew Robin, Jo and Scooby (the dog)

9-11 May 2016. Nantwich and the rain returns.
On Monday the 9th we set off from our lovely spot above the two Hack Green locks and joined the queue of boats waiting to go down. We saw baby moorhens, ducks and geese. The adult moorhens were picking bits of algae off the concrete canal wall and feeding it to their chicks, or at least to the bravest one who persisted in following its parent around rather then hiding in the bushes! Fortune clearly does favour the brave, even in the water-bird world. We arrived at the visitor moorings in Nantwich in mid afternoon and enjoyed the last of the fine weather.
We stayed overnight and into the next day so that Robin could get his leg redressed at the local health centre. Nantwich is a very pretty little town, very clean and with nice architecture. On Tuesday the rain returned so our resolutions about washing the boat etc. came to nought. In the afternoon we moved into the marina just to the north of the town where we leave Harold for a week at home.
