A celebratory weekend

Saturday: 1.5 miles and 2 locks
Sunday: 5 miles and 10 locks

On Saturday morning we got up early to implement operation birthday visit mooring. A boat arrived just as we were going through the first lock and we went along together to Hungerford. It was a guy just a bit younger than us with a clutch of elderly relatives on board.  He was working hard!
We stopped to empty the loo and then slid into the space we were aiming for in Hungerford town centre. The rest of the day was taken up by a lovely visit by Jo's children as an early birthday/father's day celebration. This included a quick trip to a nearby garden centre and the purchase of a sun parasol. We sat under it on the canal bank for the rest of the day.

Harold moored at Hungerford.
Behind us is nb Large Marge and her crew of two very nice ladies and very pretty parrot!
On Sunday, the celebration day was started in proper fashion with breakfast at a canal-side café. Then we set off, meeting narrow boat Kathleen and her two crew at the first lock. We went together through the remaining 10 locks on the way to Great Bedwyn. It was VERY HOT!

A hot but beautiful day.
ASt Great bedwyn, our companions were looking for a 7 day mooring as they needed to catch a train back to London and went on ahead. We were lucky enough to spot a 48 hour space just long enough for our Harold. We nipped in and got the sunshade and the prosecco out!

Tonight Harold is a very hot boat with a very hot dog and two very sweaty humans on board!
