The last few days have been spent at Frouds Bridge Marina, a mile or so west of Aldermaston village. On investigation, we discovered that our water tank should have been attended to some time ago. There was a lot of rust!

We also found out how huge the tank is, we knew it was beneath the whole front deck, but it also goes right under the gas locker at the front. It took a long time to empty using buckets and the very useful wet/dry vacuum Robin uses for getting the water out of the engine compartment.
Robin had to get right inside the tank to clean it and then paint it with blacking; he had a couple of very dirty and cramped days.

He got a bit of a break when daughter Verity came to visit on Saturday and took her Dad out to lunch and to B&Q for essentials.
On Sunday, the last coat of blacking went on and we walked to Aldermaston to the canal café with Scooby for a late lunch in celebration. When we got back, Robin had his brainwave and put in a Tesco's order which, as we are in a marina, was duly delivered to the boat on Monday morning. There was great excitement among the crew (well Robin) at this innovation. Monday was spent finishing off, doing laundry and cleaning the boat - including 2 hours filling the newly cleaned tank up again - so we can set off for Newbury in the morning. Jo, who missed the B&Q trip, is particularly looking forward to enjoying some civilisation again, if only briefly.
