The lovely upper Thames

6 and 3/4 miles. 3 locks.

We left Oxford late after some faffing. It was a bit blowy with threatening skies. We got through Godstow and Kings lock and turned left onto new waters. The upper Thames is very rural; both narrower and more open than lower down. Very winding too.

Robin saw an egret preening itself in a tree as he went past. he just managed to catch it with the camera as it flew off. One day we'll invest in a better camera!

We had just passed Pinkhill lock when Robin spotted a nice bit of bank and pulled over. It had just started to rain, but more importantly, he fancied it as a good fishing spot. He did catch a couple of nice chub and it is a lovely spot.

It brightened up later and we went for a walk, finding a reservoir and nature reserve.
